作为 Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 的第五个维护版本，Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS 现已可下载。这个版本集合了自 2 月发布的 Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS 以来的所有安全补丁、错误修复和应用程序更新，但是没有新功能。

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 采用的是 Linux 5.15 内核，与新 ISO 捆绑在一起的其他软件更新包括 GNOME Shell 3.36.8、LibreOffice 6.4.7.2 和 Mozilla Firefox 104，但不是 Snap 版本。

As the fifth maintenance release of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS is now available for download. This release brings together all the security patches, bug fixes and application updates since the February release of Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS, but no new features.
No new features means that if you're running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and have installed all available updates before Ubuntu 20.04.5 was released, you don't need to reinstall 20.04.5 LTS. This release is for users upgrading from other LTS releases.

Ubuntu 22.10 will be powered by the Linux 5.19 kernel. Although so far, Ubuntu 22.10 development is still running on the Linux 5.15 LTS kernel. But the latest Kinetic archive shows that Ubuntu 22.10 is switching from Linux 5.15 to Linux 5.19 as the expected kernel for this non-LTS Ubuntu release.
Linux 5.19 was released at the end of July, and the stable version of Linux 6.0 will not be released until early October. But Ubuntu 22.10's kernel freeze date is October 6, and the stable release date is October 20. Canonical has always tended to be conservative and will not risk delaying the ticket to choose the latest Linux 6.0 kernel.
Currently, the Linux 5.19 kernel build has been positioned in kinetic-proposed and will soon be available to Ubuntu 22.10 development users to replace the existing 5.15-based kernel. Additionally, Ubuntu 22.10 will ship with GNOME 43 for desktop, Mesa 22.2 graphics drivers, GCC 12 as the default system compiler, and various other updates.
