Ubuntu 21.10 (codenamed "Impish Indri") has been officially released.
Impish means naughty, and Indri is a lemur native to Madagascar. Most of the time is spent on the ground and in trees.
The new version brings many improvements, the most obvious change is the desktop environment switch to GNOME Shell 40 and provides many optimizations, including the improvement of the theme. In addition, Ubuntu 21.10 also contains many low-level improvements, such as upgrading the kernel and compiler, and other noteworthy package version upgrades.
Ubuntu 21.10 is not a long-term support (LTS) version. The official support will end in July 2022. It is just before the launch of the next LTS (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to be released in April 2022, providing 10 years of technical support) The last transitional version.
