The reason for this problem is the update of the PD protocol. The 65W chargers in the hands of some users, such as the Lenovo lipstick that appeared in the wired charging test above, still use the PD2.0 protocol and do not support the PPS protocol. The picture below shows the power test when I used the Anker PowerPort III (65W) that appeared in the previous article to connect a vertical air-cooled wireless charger to power Xiaomi 11. It can be seen that the power easily reached 50W after the successful handshake with the 19V voltage, and the charging animation of Xiaomi 11 also changed to [50W MAX] at this time.
Similarly, as long as it is a new type of charger with a power of 65W and above that supports PPS, it can achieve 50W wireless charging power to power Xiaomi 11, which is even higher than the wired charging power of Xiaomi 11.
Conclusion Wired charging: The peak value of 55W gallium nitride that comes with Xiaomi Mi 11 is around 45W; among the third-party PD chargers, the newer PD3.0 charger can reach a power of about 27W. The old product does not have PD3.0. It does not support the PPS protocol, it can only shake hands with 9V2A gear, and the power is about 18W. Conclusion: The high-power charging of Xiaomi 11 only supports Xiaomi's private protocol, and the public PD protocol can only reach a maximum of about 27W.
Wireless charging: Mainly test the compatibility of 55W vertical air-cooled wireless charger with different charging heads. With the 55W gallium nitride that comes with Xiaomi Mi 11, the peak power is around 35W most of the time; the peak power can reach around 55W when replacing a third-party 65W charger that supports PPS.
