11 月 26 日消息，据外媒 9to5google 当地时间周六报道，这段时间以来，YouTube 向各大广告拦截器“宣战”的举措使大量插件失效。但老话说得好，“办法总比困难多”，有位开发者提供了一种变通处理的手段：既然无法跳过 YouTube 广告，那就加快它的播放速度。
开发者 Hackhive-io 在 Reddit 上详细介绍了具备广告加速功能的 Chrome 浏览器插件 ——AdSpeedup。其称，这个插件的工作原理非常简单，就是借助 YouTube 的播放速度控制功能。
这个插件检测到 YouTube 当前正在播放广告之后，就可以自动以 16 倍速播放广告，导致原本通常为 30 秒的广告被缩短为一两秒。
此外，这个插件在默认情况下还会将广告静音，未来还将在更新中加入自动点击“跳过”按钮功能。
此前报道，《连线》杂志本月初提供的部分广告拦截公司的数据显示，10 月卸载广告拦截器的用户有数十万，达到了“创纪录的数量”。而与此同时，新安装的广告拦截器数量也创下历史新高，因为人们正在寻求不会触发 YouTube 反广告拦截弹出窗口的替代品。
一家知名广告拦截器 AdGuard 称，该公司的工具拥有包括 450 万付费用户在内的约 7500 万名用户，通常每天约有 6000 人从 Chrome 浏览器中卸载自家的扩展程序。该公司首席技术官 Andrey Meshkov 表示，从 10 月 9 日到月底，每天约有 1.1 万人卸载 AdGuard，10 月 18 日的单日卸载量飙升至 5.2 万次。
随着用户寻求替代方案，AdGuard 的安装量也出现激增。同时，当人们意识到 AdGuard 的付费工具（当时）不受 YouTube 打击的影响时，订阅用户亦随之增加。
